FSL French Activities
A Dramatic French Activity
This activity is fun for reviewing French vocabulary. It is great as an opener or as a quick activity to slip in when you have a few extra minutes. You can either keep a set of vocabulary cards handy or let students select their own words or phrases to act out.
One student comes to the front of the class and begins to pantomime, illustrating the word or phrase written on the card. As the class watches, individuals try to guess the word or phrase. I prefer to have the students raise their hands to answer, but depending on the size of the group "free-for-all" style may work for you. The person with the correct answer then comes to the front to be the next to choose a word or phrase.
This French activity can also be played as a team game with points being given for each correct answer given within a time limit. The presenter pantomimes for his own team to guess the answer. If that team doesn’t get the answer before time runs out, the opposing team may have one guess to steal the point.
To make the game a little more challenging have the students write their guess on the blackboard. To get the point, the words must be spelled correctly.
